In May of 2019, our founders, Michael and Jessica Domingos, faced an unimaginable tragedy. Their beloved daughter, Evie, just 12 years old, lost her battle with emotional struggles and took her own life. From the depths of their grief, they made a transformative choice: to turn their heartbreak into hope and action. Tiny Evie Rocks began as a small act of love in Evie’s memory and has grown into The Evie Effect, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering understanding, resilience, and community.
Through our signature program, Holding Space, we provide suicide prevention workshops designed to foster inclusive environments where healing and resilience can flourish. These workshops equip participants with the skills to ask direct questions about suicide, engage in meaningful connections, and create spaces of compassion and support for themselves and others. With tailored sessions for veterans, LGBTQIA+ individuals, neurodivergent communities, and more, we strive to ensure that every voice is heard, and no one is left behind.
We are partnering with local organizations to create a LOSS Team. This team will offer immediate support to survivors of suicide loss, meeting them at the scene and connecting them to vital resources during their most vulnerable moments.
In 2025, we’re launching the Beyond the Darkness podcast, a platform to share stories of resilience, provide expert insights, and inspire listeners to find hope in every story. This initiative complements our commitment to accessible education, which includes bilingual materials and mental health awareness workshops tailored to diverse audiences.
We also believe in the healing power of community and connection. Our signature events, like Evie Rocks Tyler and the Light the Way 5K, bring people together to celebrate life, share stories, and learn about suicide prevention in an atmosphere of unity and support. These events serve as a reminder that we are stronger together, and every voice matters in the fight to save lives.
The Evie Effect’s vision is clear: to foster a community where mental well-being flourishes and suicide prevention is a priority. Every program, event, and initiative is a testament to Evie’s legacy and a reflection of our belief in the ripple effect of kindness and action.
From our roots in grief to our vision for a brighter future, we honor Evie by empowering others to create change. Together, we are building a world where every individual knows they are seen, valued, and never alone.
The Evie Effect: Finding hope, saving lives, and creating a legacy of love and resilience. It’s not just a mission—it’s a movement.
